Madigan Army Medical Center is one of the busiest hospitals in the Pacific Northwest. The facility occupies more than 120 acres of land and serves more than 160,000 beneficiaries in a 40-mile area. MAMC has 245 beds, 4,000 staff members and hundreds of volunteers.
Madigan is one of three designated Level 2 trauma centers in the U.S. Medical Command. Its Andersen Simulation Center, which helps train thousands of doctors, nurses and medics each year, is the only Defense Department medical educational institution to receive a three-year accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.
MAMC offers a full spectrum of specialty and subspecialty services for adult and pediatric patients including cardiology, developmental pediatrics, hematology and oncology, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and radiation therapy.

The home is located just down the street from Madigan Army Medical Center. The home has 7 guest rooms, a kitchen and dining area, living room, laundry area, outdoor pavilion and fenced outdoor play area. Most amenities, including toiletries, towels, linens, kitchenware and prepaid phone cards, are provided. Currently, there is no fee for qualified families to stay at the home. JBLM Fisher House is located near the city of Lakewood and the surrounding area of Tacoma, Washington. The state capital, Olympia, is located 12 miles southwest and Seattle, Washington’s largest city, is approximately one hour north. There are several shopping areas nearby, including three malls. Popular area destinations include Mount Rainier (approximately 50 miles to the east and visible from the home on clear days), which offers a variety of hiking, skiing and camping options, and – about 10 miles to the west – Puget Sound beaches and recreation areas.
